Q & A

Why join the BHS Alumni, Reunion and Community Master Email List?

Signing up for the master email subscription for the "all class" Burnsville High School Alumni list, reunion events and news ensures you will be informed of alumni events of your class . This is the email list for all Burnsville High School classes to reach out on reunions and news. Class officers may request information on their particular class.  Please fill out completely to receive information on various interest groups. This new 2014 detail list replaces the generic previous BHS alumni list used by the alumni foundation. This list is maintained by The Black & Gold Alumni Foundation.
For Q&A's Contact: BHSalumni@burnsvilleblaze.com

The list is also used as the main entry contact point for various projects of BHS alumni, staff and community residents on non-profit projects. Just select your interests in the master list.

I have already signed up for alumni list?

The previous BHS alumni list maintain by School District 191 only contained email information with no detail class years and names. While we are doing our best to migrate and search for individual information on each alumni, we recommended signing up on our foundation list.  The simple signup process will inform you if you’re in the database and you can go check your profile for errors or enter the correct data. If not already in the system, you can just complete the form. The new list requires only a minimum of 4 data fields and you can select up to 75 data fields on interest level.

Important Note: The School District 191 maintains a alumni email list and a alumni news letter that is separate from the BHS Black & Gold Alumni Foundation.

What can I expect to receive by joining this list?

: Reunion and Meet & Greet information for all class events and by class when information is reported to us

: Alumni News & community news if deem appropriate.

: Black & Gold Alumni Foundation information

: Maintenance emails, with 30,000 plus alumni we can expect over 5,000 information changes yearly by the alumni to keep the database current. Two (spring/fall) reminder maintenance update emails a year will be sent out which can simply be deleted if no changes are necessary. (This will be clearly marked in the subject line)

What are the optional interest groups in the email subscription?

We have up to 60 optional interest groups for you to receive information on. If you select these interest groups your email address will be shared with those groups. Reconnect with the football program or the theater group or your particular club or sport again through this program.

Teachers and Employees of School District 191:

To the teachers and past and current employees of ISD 191, we created data fields for you to check so your group can reconnect in a convenient way.  This service is being provided by the alumni foundation.

History

In 2006 the BHS Black & Gold Alumni Foundation put on what was to be a “one time” event for the 50th anniversary of the Burnsville High School. It was a success with close to 5,000 alumni attending over the 3 day event.  Out of the event came the “The Hall of Fame” inductions held by a separate committee. Also a loosely “All BHS Alumni dance” was started with minor fundraising. With moderate success it had attendance in the range of 150 to 450. After 5 years it was suspended in 2013. After discussion with fellow alumni it was decided to bring it back under the “Meet and Greet" format.  To offer a free casual event open to all and have it be as simple to operate as it could be with a flexible format. Discussions including moving it to the July time frame to avoid over lapping of the MN State Fair dates, Sturgis, Wefest and other late summer events.  Meet an old friend, invite the old team or club and enjoy the memories while making new ones.
